PRESS RELEASE                                                                 DECEMBER 17, 2010

On Saturday December 11th, 2010 The Passaic County Department of Health hosted a Recognition and Recruitment Brunch

for the Passaic County Medical Reserve Corps (PCMRC) at the Brownstone in Paterson, NJ. The mission of the PCMRC

is to develop a prepared, trained workforce of volunteers to serve the citizens of New Jersey in the event of a public

health emergency. On Saturday, awards were given to Passaic County volunteers for their contribution and participation

in this program. PCMRC volunteers played a critical role in the 2009-2010 H1N1 flu season.

The keynote speaker of the event was Dr. James Pruden, Director of Emergency Preparedness at St. Joseph’s Regional

Medical Center. He gave an inspiring presentation on volunteerism. The brunch was also a way for volunteers to network

and for their guests to join.

The Passaic County Medical Reserve Corps invites both healthcare professionals and community volunteers to join.

You can join by logging onto the website at www.njmrc.nj.gov. For more information about this valuable program

please contact Passaic County Department of Health Public Health Nurse Diane Weil at 973-881-4396.
